You Can Actually Hide Your Tired, Puffy Eyes With This Mascara Trick

Beauty bloggers love to say adding a pop of bright blue to your eyes will make them seem bigger and brighter, even on your sleepiest, most hungover day.

Sounds great, right? But, in reality , not all of us want to rock technicolor lashes 24/7.

Rather than entirely coveringmy lashes in bright blue for this beauty mythbuster, Iwanted to see if adding simply a hint of blue colouring along the base of the lashes really made a difference.

As someone who seems tired 100 percent of the time, I jumped at the opportunity to put this beauty hackto the test. I can use all the eye brighten I can get, especially if it’ll attain my puffy eyes seem larger.

While I always reach for my trustycolored eyeliner( purple is baefor my green eyes ), I wasn’t sure how the bright blue hue would look. Beyond opening up the eyes, this tiny pop of blue is a beginner-friendly route to get on board with the blue eye makeup trend that emerged at NYFW last year.

So bust out the blue hues and wake up those lids.

Step 1: Prime your lashes, so that blue will really pop.

Since Ill require a strong color payoff to put this myth to the test, priming the lashes is an important first step.

A white primer like LOrealDouble Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara is the perfect base for this eye-opening experiment because it allows the bright blue color to retain its brilliance.

Youll get a much more impactful look employing a primer than if you try this look on bare lashes. Trust!

Step 2: Paint electric blue onto your lashes.

Now for the fun part.

Carefully apply a blue liquid eyeliner( we utilized Wet n WildMegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner) to the baseof your upper eyelashes. Construct sure they get a healthy coat of the blue, but be careful not to overdo it or they mightget goopy.

Wait a few minutes to let it dry.

Step 3: Soften the look by applying black mascara to the tips.

After youve let your coloured lashes dry, apply a regular black mascara from the middle of your lashes to the tips. You want to leave just a small portion of your lashes blue( as close to the lash line as possible) so there’s a subtle pop of color.

The majority of your eyelashes should be black, so layer on your go-to mascara until “youre feeling” you’ve achieved a colouring balance.

Verdict? My eyes are significantly brighter with the pop of blue.
